Our Facilities

The Center for Simulation and Research, located on the Oak Campus of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is a 13,000 sq. ft. facility in both the Medical Education and Resource Center (MERC) building as well in the newly renovated space on the first floor of the Oak Building. The renovation occurred in what was formally the labor and delivery suite of the Bethesda Oak Hospital.

The Center has numerous state of the art classroom, education and simulation suites for the education and training of Cincinnati Children's personnel as well as the medical community at large.

The original suite located on the second floor of the MERC Building houses a large classroom, with associated break out space, simulation suite and control room.

The Oak facility houses:

  • A classroom, which can accommodate 30 – 50 personnel.
    Center for Simulation and Research features a classroom, which can accommodate 30 – 50 personnel.
  • Six multi-purpose rooms which can be used as patient rooms for simulation sessions or as break-out rooms for skill sessions.
  • Three fully functioning Operating Room Simulation Suites. Each suite can function as an operating theater or be used as needed for other simulation requirements.
  • Three debriefing rooms, with 50" plasma displays including the Smart Board System to be utilized during post simulation sessions. All three debriefing rooms are networked to allow use with the SimCube recording system.

Center for Simulation and Research features three fully functioning Operating Room Simulation Suites. Each suite can function as an operating theater or be used as needed for other simulation requirements.

  • SimCube, a web-based audiovisual system that records simulation sessions. The system gathers data and records care provider actions, patient vital signs and simulator responses, and facilitator annotations. The data captured is available immediately after a simulation for the team debriefing session.
  • The simulation control room allows for the management of the simulation enviroment and simulator responses as well as the digital recording of team performance.
  • Additional space includes locker rooms, storage rooms, and additional room for expansion

The Center for Simulation and Research is truly one of the largest simulation and education facilities of its kind in the region.
