  • Autism Classes and Workshops, Ongoing
  • Topic: Clinical Training in the Lidcombe Program: An Evidence-Based Behavioral Intervention for Stuttering in Young Children
    Dates: June 11-13, 2008
Location: Sabin Education Building, Room 6.125
Cost: $680.00 (for the entire 3-day workshop)
    Description:
This conference is designed for speech-language pathologists. The format will include lectures, group discussions and demonstrations and will provide the opportunity to integrate practice and theoretical information. The Lidcombe Program was developed by Dr. Mark Onslow and his colleagues at the University of Sydney's Australian Stuttering Research Centre as a behavioral intervention for stuttering in preschool aged children. After training, speech-language pathologists teach parents to administer appropriate feedback about fluency and stuttering to their children in their everyday-speaking environment.
Studies have shown that stuttering can be maintained at near zero following treatment with the Lidcombe Program. This treatment has been adjusted for school-aged children and special populations.
