Why Choose Us

Our Expertise

Why Choose Cincinnati Children's?

The Division of Speech Pathology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is the largest pediatric speech pathology program in the nation.

  • We have a staff of experts, not generalists. All staff members evaluate and treat patients in their particular area of specialty only. Therefore, each patient is seen by a specialist in the child's particular disorder and age.
  • We use the latest procedures and evidence-based practice as determined by our specialty teams.
  • We draw the best qualified clinicians from all over the country.
  • We have the most current equipment and technology, including computerized workflow and documentation.
  • We allow parents and guardians to observe treatment through video monitoring. There is also the option to tape record the session for later viewing.
  • We are dedicated to providing high quality services in everything we do, from initial scheduling to the provision of clinical services.

Staff Qualifications and Career Opportunities

Speech pathology staff members have either a master's degree or PhD in speech-language pathology, a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a license from the Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology of the state of Ohio. All staff members specialize in pediatrics, and many staff members have particular expertise in one or more of the specialty areas.

Teaching Program: Our Expertise Extends Beyond the Clinic

In addition to caring for children, the Division of Speech Pathology has an active teaching program for graduate students in speech-language pathology and other healthcare professionals. We accept graduate students from universities across the country for their practicum and internship rotations.

As part of our mission, the Division of Speech Pathology is committed to educating physicians and other health care professionals regarding various types of communication disorders and the indications for referral. Therefore, we provide lectures and seminars to various medical groups at Cincinnati Children’s and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We also provide lectures locally for community groups and for classes in speech pathology at the University of Cincinnati and Miami University. Finally, lectures and seminars are given to various medical groups and professional organizations on a state, national and international basis.
