Appointments, Insurance, and Financial Aid

Prior to scheduling an appointment in Speech Pathology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, a health care provider must submit a referral to Speech Pathology and to the family’s insurance company.

Families are encouraged to check with their insurance company regarding benefits and authorization requirements before their child’s first appointment. Our insurance specialists are available to offer assistance as needed. We will also provide families with written information to help them in working with their insurance company.

Cincinnati Children’s is committed to providing services to all children, regardless of the ability to pay. Financial assistance is available by contacting a financial counselor at the number listed below.

Attendance

We are committed to helping as many children as possible, and to providing the best service that we can to each one. This can only be done if all appointments are kept, including the first one — the evaluation appointment.

We want all patients to make progress and meet therapy goals. However, the child’s success is dependent on consistent attendance in therapy. Therefore, our attendance policy is as follows:

If an evaluation appointment is not kept and not cancelled, we will not be able to reschedule it without another referral from the physician.

If a therapy appointment is not kept and not cancelled, this may be the basis for termination of therapy. In addition, frequently cancelled therapy appointments (more than 1 cancelled visit for every 8 visits scheduled) will be the basis for termination of therapy. We will not be able to put the child back on the waiting list or reschedule without another referral from the physician..

Parking Directions

Speech Pathology services are offered in Location E at Cincinnati Children's Main Campus. To access parking convenient to Location E, please proceed as follows:

After turning off Burnet Avenue, turn right into the visitor garage.
To get to Location E, you must first travel down to the lowest level (Level 4) of the garage.
Proceed to Location E parking (color code green).
If spaces are not available on Level 4, follow the ramp up to Levels 3 and 2. (If you still cannot find a parking space, proceed out of the garage to the plaza level parking).
Follow the signs to the elevator.
Take the elevator to Level 1 and follow the covered walkway into Location E (color code green). You will enter on the 2nd floor.
Come through the double glass doors
Bear left
Follow the hallway past the elevators
Turn right into the hallway
The Speech Department Waiting Room is on the left
