Stuttering Stan Takes a Stand is an appealing story about friendships, respect, courage and compassion written by Artie Knapp with illustrations by Barbara L. Gibson. It is published by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's Division of Speech Pathology and is the first in a series of books by Mr. Knapp that will address the common language problems of children in early elementary school.

Stuttering Stan Takes a Stand is an illustrated book aimed a target audience of children ages 6-10, however younger children will enjoy having the story read to them. It has multiple illustrations by noted children's-book illustrator, Barbara L. Gibson.

This product is designed to be used by families, early and elementary childhood educators and speech-language pathologists to help ease the emotional burden of children who are teased and bullied because they stutter. This story is intended to give courage to children who stutter, and it will help those who do not stutter become more understanding and empathetic. Additionally, embedded in this story are important messages about human kindness and acceptance of challenges.
