Clinical Services
The Teen Health Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of programs and services for teens age 12 to 21. Our specialists also see patients under the age of 12 for issues related to puberty. Specialized clinical services include:
Adolescent Primary Care
The Cincinnati Children's Teen Health Center physicians and nurse practitioners provide on-going primary health care for young people ages 12-21.
Adolescent Medicine Consultation
Consultation for complicated medical problems for 12- to 21-year-olds is provided by board-certified physicians in the Teen Health Center.
Common referral issues include:
- Complex medical illness
- Chronic illness
- Persistent fatigue
- Diagnostic dilemmas
- Disorders of puberty
- Reproductive health issues
- Drug and alcohol use
- Mood and behavioral problems
- School performance issues
- Transition to adult health care and eating disorders
Adolescent Behavioral Health Services
These services are provided for adolescents who receive health care at the Teen Health Center. Teenagers with emotional and behavioral concerns are offered individual and family counseling services. Mental health therapists have extensive experience assisting teens and families as they face the unique issues of adolescence.
Adolescent Nutrition
The Teen Health Center's Adolescent Nutrition Program provides individual therapy with a registered dietitian.
Nutritional counseling is offered to teenagers to assist with:
- Weight management
- Eating disorder treatment
- Sports nutrition
- Changes in eating patterns (for instance, the newly vegetarian teen)
Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology
Gynecologic consultation for children and adolescents from infancy to young adulthood is provided by a pediatric / adolescent gynecologist. Routine pediatric and adolescent gynecology services are provided by adolescent medicine experts.
