Overview

The Pediatric Transport Team at Cincinnati Children's offers a state-of-the-art mobile intensive care unit that allows for the transport of critically ill newborn and pediatric patients from local, regional, national and international sites.

The Pediatric Transport Team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers a state-of-the-art mobile intensive care unit environment that allows for the transport of critically ill newborn and pediatric patients from local, regional, national and international referral sites. In-house teams are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to allow a rapid response for medical transports.

The Transport Team is composed of registered nurses, respiratory therapists and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). The team members are specially trained in newborn and pediatric intensive care, emergency and transport medicine, flight physiology and trauma. Team members are also certified in:

Physicians trained in neonatal or pediatric care accompany the team as the patient's condition warrants.

The Cincinnati Children's Pediatric Transport Team

The Transport Team performs interfacility transports, moving critically ill children and newborns from one hospital to another. Since its inception in 1988, the Transport Team has transported over 1,400 newborn and pediatric patients each year. These patients have presented with traumatic injuries, congenital anomalies, respiratory distress, seizures, cardiac abnormalities and complex medical / surgical problems.

The Transport Team brings the Cincinnati Children's intensive care units to the referring institution. Because of their specialized training and equipment, the team is able to provide the highest level of quality intensive care possible to the critically ill or injured child during transport.

The Transport Team philosophy is to provide children and their families the highest quality of care possible during their hour of need.

Dispatch Center

Our RN-staffed Dispatch Center coordinates your patient's transfer to Cincinnati Children's from referral to receiving facilities. They will connect you with a pediatric medical specialist for consultation, when requested, and will ensure a smooth transition from beginning to end.

Ambulance Staged at Outpatient Mason

The Transport Team at Cincinnati Children's stages one of their ambulances at Outpatient Mason to better serve their customers north of Cincinnati.

Hours of operation are:

  • Monday - Friday, 9 am to 12 midnight
  • Weekends until 6 pm
