Following the guidelines prescribed by the American College of Surgeons, a comprehensive system to immediate and definitive care for the injured child was established. Trauma Services works to continually improve critical elements of trauma care, such as:

  • Access to the system
  • Pre-hospital care
  • Field triage
  • Acute hospital care
  • Rehabilitation
  • Injury prevention

Our comprehensive system of care begins with injury prevention through education, research and legislation.

Trauma Services' mission is to eliminate injury as the leading cause of death and illness among children by relentlessly pursuing comprehensive injury prevention, the highest level of injury care, and the cutting-edge of injury research.
