Overview
Emergency Services at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is devoted to the special needs of acutely ill and injured children. Three primary objectives are included in the department's mission:
- The delivery of exceptional care to all patients
- The development of new knowledge and techniques based on sound clinical research.
The mission includes providing emergency care for all children within the hospital's service area and offering education and support for emergency crews in the field. The department is an advocate for all children and also strives to enhance the professional growth of the staff.
STATline
STATline, Cincinnati Children's emergency communication information system, offers prehospital care providers (Emergency Medical Services, or EMS, squads) and referring hospitals and physicians a round-the-clock direct connection to pediatric emergency specialists.
Emergency Referrals
Physicians make emergency referrals by calling STATline at 513-636-4964. Specially trained operators relay referrals to an emergency medicine physician. Referral to subspecialists is made subsequent to evaluation of the child in the emergency department. If direct referral to a subspecialist is preferred, it should be made by the referring physician.

To determine if urgent care is appropriate for the chid's needs, parents are encouraged to contact the child's physician.
