Overview

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides complete radiology and imaging services for the evaluation of pediatric disease.

Services

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging provides many services, including:

In addition to 32 clinical faculty radiologists, the department includes up to nine pediatric radiology fellows and several rotating residents from the University of Cincinnati and the Cleveland Clinic.

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging is equipped with:

  • Five radiographic rooms
  • Three fluoroscopic rooms
  • Three interventional suites for vascular and non-vascular procedures 
  • Digital vascular imaging
  • An ultrasonography section with five sonographic units

  • A nuclear medicine section with four gamma cameras and weekly sevices from a mobile PET Scanning unit
  • Two high-speed helical CT whole body scanners
  • Seven MRI units with MR angiography (MRA) and MR Spectroscopy 

Research

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging is actively involved in research investigating new applications of imaging in pediatrics, imaging evaluation of urinary tract infection, use of magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy in pediatrics, pediatric vascular interventional techniques, and tumor-specific radiopharmaceuticals.

Imaging Research Center

The Imaging Research Center is partially funded through external grants, the Location R (Research Foundation Building).

Hemangioma and Vascular Malformation Center

The department also works with the Hemangioma and Vascular Malformation Center at Cincinnati Children's, an interdisciplinary group of pediatric specialists who collaborate in the evaluation, management and emotional support of patients with hemangiomas and vascular malformations.
