Bio
Appointed to the clinical faculty in 1968, with activities in patient care and teaching residents and students, Omer G. Berger, MD, was named director of the Lead Clinic at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati in 1972.
Dr. Berger began studies of lead poisoning with the faculty of Environmental Health in 1975. He was co-investigator in a National Institutes of Health (NIH) cohort study of behavioral effects of lead poisoning from1979 through 1997. Dr. Berger was also an investigator in a NIEHS-funded random clinical trial of succimer in moderate lead poisoning from 1993 to 1999.
Dr. Berger was appointed acting director of a pediatric clerkship in 1982, and director of student education in 1985. He became associate medical director of the Babies Milk Fund pediatric clinics in 1984, and continued to serve as medical director of the Juvenile Court Center until 1994.
Dr. Berger's current activities include serving as an attending in the Pediatric Primary Care Center, with responsibilties for patients and teaching. He is a local lead poisoning expert and attends the Lead Clinic weekly.
