Biography
My goals are to help children and families and to prevent child abuse. My research areas include child physical abuse, child sexual abuse and abusive head injury. I obtained my board certification in pediatrics in 1997 and specialize in child abuse pediatrics. I’ve been in practice for more than 20 years.
I’m the Fellowship Director of the Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children at Cincinnati Children’s, a designated Child Advocacy Center (CAC). We are devoted to developing better ways of identifying child abuse. I also study outcomes and methods for the prevention of abusive head trauma (shaken baby syndrome). This syndrome is the most frequent cause of traumatic mortality and morbidity in infants and our understanding of the long-term outcomes of affected children is not well-known.
My research has been published in respected journals, such as The Journal of Pediatrics, Child Abuse and Neglect, Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Care, and Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation.
