Bio

Mary D. Patterson, MD, has been a member of the Division of Emergency Medicine since 1977. She completed pediatric residency training in Columbus, Ohio and then served as a primary care physician in the United States Air Force for three years. During her service in the Air Force, she developed an interest in trauma and pediatric resuscitation.

Subsequently, she entered fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Since completing fellowship training she has served as faculty at Children's in Washington, D.C., and Bowman Gray School of Medicine/Wake Forest University.

Dr. Patterson's primary research interests are pediatric trauma management, resuscitation and prehospital care of the pediatric patient.
