Bio

James M. Anderson has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center since 1996. He has been instrumental in shaping the extraordinary growth at the medical center over the last eight years.

His appointment as President and CEO followed 20 years of service to the Cincinnati Children's board of trustees, including four years as chairman, as well as involvement on the Executive, Finance, Investment and Compensation, Personnel and Nominating committees.

This year, Mr. Anderson was appointed chairman of the Board of the Cincinnati Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. In July 2005, Mr. Anderson was appointed to a national advisory commission that will help identify reforms necessary to stabilize and strengthen the Medicaid system. In July 2003, he was appointed to Ohio Governor Bob Taft's Third Frontier Advisory Board, which provides strategic planning for investments administered by the Third Frontier Commission.

Prior to joining the staff of Cincinnati Children's, Mr. Anderson was a partner in the general corporate department at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister for 24 years (1968-1977; 1982-96) and president of US operations at Xomox Corporation (1977-82), a publicly traded manufacturer of specialty process controls.

He has held director or officer positions for numerous corporations, including Access Corp., Carlisle Companies Incorporated, National Stock Exchange, Command System Incorporated, Gateway Investment Trust, River City Insurance Limited, and Union Central Life Insurance Company. His extensive civic involvement includes service to the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Cincinnati Museum of Natural History and the College of Mt. St. Joseph, Monarch Foundation. In May 2005, Mr. Anderson was honored with the Human Relations Award presented by the Cincinnati chapter of the American Jewish Committee, in recognition of his outstanding professional contributions and his vision of a healthy Cincinnati community. He also has been mayor of Indian Hill.

Mr. Anderson is a graduate of Yale University (1963) and Vanderbilt School of Law (1966). He was a captain in the U.S. Army (1966-68) and spent a year in Vietnam with the First Infantry Division, becoming a decorated veteran. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
