Rashmi Hegde received her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh in 1989. She received post-doctoral training in the Department of Molecular Bioophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University, where she was a fellow of the National Cancer Center. She was appointed Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at New York University School of Medicine and the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine in 1994. She is presently a tenured Associate Professor in the Deparment of Pediatrics, University of Cincinnati and Division of Developmental Biology at Childrens Hospital Research Foundation.

Special Interests

Research in the Hegde Laboratory is aimed at understanding the structural basis for specificity in macromolecular interactions. Currently the two main areas of interest in the laboratory are:

  1. proteins involved in early vertebrate development
  2. proteins involved in the life- and infection-cycles of the cancer-associated papillomaviruses.
