  • Family-Centered Care

We believe that the best way to care for children is to make the family part of the health care team. Parents and family members are a child’s main source of strength and support, and they are the one constant in the child’s care. Families and patients can help our professionals improve the way we provide care for our patients.

    Learn more about Family-Centered Rounds.

“Making rounds” means that groups of care providers make their way through the hospital to see all of their patients as a team. Our family-centered rounds involve family members as part of the care team. We place strong emphasis on family choice and “leveling the playing field” between families and healthcare professionals. This results in more personalized, sensitive care for patients and better outcomes for the whole family.

We provide resources to help healthcare professionals outside Cincinnati Children’s learn how to incorporate family-centered rounds in their own medical practices.
