How to Set Up Your Own Bowel Management Program
This one day seminar, followed by six days of observation of our Bowel Management Program, will provide an overview of treatment of fecal incontinence and constipation in children and will teach the participant how to set up a bowel management program, from start to finish, including:
- Patient intake
- Patient care
- Clinical outcomes

The seminar will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012, beginning at 9:00 am and ending at 1:00 pm.
Friday, October 26, 2012:
- 8:00-9:00 am - Patient Lecture
- 9:00-10:00 am - Nursing Education Lecture
- Observation during clinical first visit (physician treatment decision making, nurse instructions and orientation to patients and parents)
Monday, October 29 to Thurday, November 1, 2012:
Colorectal team (doctors, nurses and seminar attendees) meets from 1:00-3:00 pm to discuss each case and make any needed adjustments to the treatment based on patient's abdominal X-ray and report from the parents to the nurses. Nurse calls family with adjustments for that night's program.
Friday, November 2, 2012:
Observation during clinic final visit wtih physician and nurse
Doctors, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical students and administrators are welcome. Continuing education credits are available. Please see below for details.
