Insurance Coverage and Patient Registration

Medical Insurance

Because insurance policies can change, please contact your insurance company before your visit to verify your benefits and coverage. For example, your insurance may not pay for co-payments, deductible, and certain out-of-pocket expenses. Please also verify that Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is a participating provider for your plan.

Patient Referrals

Many insurance companies require a referral from the primary care physician before your child receives medical care at Cincinnati Children's. Without a referral for the visit, you may be responsible for all charges. Please also ask your doctor or nurse if a referral has been made if one is required by your insurance plan.

Patient Registration

To make registration and insurance billing as efficient as possible, please bring your insurance card(s) with you. Insurance co-payments must be paid at time of service. If you do not show proof of insurance (Medicaid card, insurance cards, BCMH letter, for example), we will register your account(s) as "self-pay", and you will be responsible for the entire bill.

Financial Counselors

We are committed to providing health care to children, regardless of family income. All families who live within our primary service area (Hamilton, Warren, Butler, Clermont, Boone, Kenton Campbell and Dearborn counties) and do not have health insurance are eligible for discounts and payment plans. Please talk to one of our financial counselors; call 513-636-0201.

Counselors are ocated on the main campus of Cincinnati Children's. The Financial Counseling Department is in Location B, up the stairs near the Pharmacy. If your child is seen at an outpatient location, please call 513-636-0201, or ask for a financial assistance application form at the registration desk.
