What to Bring to the Hospital
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center will supply diapers, hospital gowns, pajama bottoms and slipper socks. We will also provide age-appropriate toys and video games.
Children enjoy having clothing and other items from home with them in the hospital. You may want to bring:
- Comfortable daytime clothing
- Favorite nightgown, pair of pajamas or robe
- Slippers or shoes
- Special bottle, cup, book, toy, pillowcase or blanket
- Hairbrush, hairpick, barrettes
- Photos
- Favorite G, PG and PG-13 videos
- School books and assignments
- Containers for glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids
- Registration information (insurance or medical card, insurance claim forms, etc.)
- All prescriptions and/or over-the-counter medications, in the original bottles, your child takes regularly (a medication form is available on the following page)
Please be sure to label personal items and clothing you bring to the hospital. We'll do our best to help you keep track of them.
We advise leaving unnecessary valuables, such as jewelry and portable CD players, at home.
Internet connection is available in your child’s room. If you choose to bring a laptop computer or any other electrical appliance to the hospital, it must be checked by Clinical Engineering. Ask your nurse for details. Internet cables can be found at the nurses’ station if you forget to bring your own.
Please note that there is a phone and a TV in all patient rooms.
Parent showers/bathrooms are available in most patient rooms or nearby on the unit.
