Education and Support Group Helps Parents Take Their First Steps in Caring for Young Children with Hemophilia

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is sponsoring a support and education group for parents of young children with hemophilia. This group, called First Steps, was formed to enable new parents to meet one another and share similar experiences related to having a child diagnosed with hemophilia. The focus of the group is to increase knowledge regarding the medical care and treatment of hemophilia, which will help empower parents whose children are diagnosed with this chronic disorder.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Home infusions
  • Ports
  • Parent's feelings of guilt and loss of control
  • Navigating insurance challenges
  • Emergency room

The group meets weekly at Cincinnati Children's. Child care is provided. If you are interested in attending the group please contact Lisa Littner at 513-636-4861.
