Three years ago Cincinnati Children’s began
enrolling patients in MyChart – a confidential, online tool for families to
view portions of their child’s Cincinnati Children’s medical record. In those
three years, 9,203 patients have enrolled (as of August 2013) and we have added
new functionality to give families easier access to the information they need.
What You’ll See in MyChart
MyChart provides you with access to health
information discussed during your child’s visit. Families can view after-visit
and discharge summaries, appointment reminder letters, allergies,
immunizations, current medications, diagnoses and lab/test results. Families
who use MyChart appreciate the easy access to their information and feel more empowered
to participate in their care.
New Look and Features
MyChart will soon get a new look and improved
In November, we will roll out secure patient
messaging in select clinics, enabling families to send a non-urgent message to
their care team. Five clinics already use secure messaging: The Center
for Infants and Children with Special Needs, Colorectal Center, Cystic Fibrosis
Center, Dermatology and Sickle Cell Center.
We’ll also be piloting e-visits. Urology
already uses the e-visit functionality for patients to complete an online
questionnaire to help monitor care after select surgeries.
MyChart will have a new search feature for test
results and secure patient messaging, making it easier for families to find
information they need.
Parent accounts will have tabs at the top of
the screen for each child with a MyChart account. Parents can click the tabs to
easily move between accounts.
Families who are already using MyChart will
receive information about the changes soon.
