Critical Link Discovered for Dangerous Complication of Stem Cell Transplants Transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (TA-TMA) is a common and poorly recognized complication that can occur in about 30 percent of people receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). In severe cases, mortality can exceed 80 percent.
