This was a well-designed randomized control trial (RCT). RCTs are rare for our division and the otolaryngology literature in general. Changes practice patterns in the U.S. Landmark study creating universal recommendations for post op trach care.

Great example of how our teams change / build processes to improve patient safety.

This manuscript illustrates for the first time that many of our children with strong non-verbal intelligence quotients (NVIQ), and who receive management for their hearing loss, are still underperforming relative to their potential. While the data indicate that children with lower NVIQ appear to be functioning at their appropriate levels, those children with higher NVIQs are still performing below their potential and likely require additional / different interventions in order to help them reach their full language potential.

This study is important because we need a standard way of interpreting results from drug-induced sleep endoscopy.
