Curriculum

Our fellowship offers exceptional interdisciplinary clinical training as well as opportunities to provide care independently.

Thanks to the volume and diversity of care provided at Cincinnati Children’s, our fellows evaluate and treat a wide array of developmental and behavioral conditions and have unparalleled training opportunities in related specialties.

Timeline

Per ACGME, subspecialty training requires at least 12 months of clinical experience and at least 12 months dedicated to research/scholarly activity. The remaining 12 months can be structured based on the fellow’s interests and career goals, including additional certification/degree pursuits, i.e., Certificate or Master’s in Medical Education, Master of Science in Clinical Research, Master of Public Health, etc.

  • Weekly psychopathology/psychopharmacology seminar with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry trainees
  • Monthly case conference with core preceptors
  • Monthly psychopharmacology case conference
  • Monthly DBP Board preparation
  • Monthly research curriculum including QI didactics
  • Monthly divisional DEI seminar
  • Bimonthly DBPs as Educators seminar
  • Quarterly book club
  • Quarterly journal club
  • Over 300 hours instruction/field experience in leadership, advocacy and interdisciplinary teaming through the University of Cincinnati Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Leadership in Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Training Program.
  • ADOS®-2 Training
  • Fellow teaching roles in clinic and residency rotation
  • Fellow presentation opportunities to other trainees, faculty, community, and at regional and national conferences 

Call Responsibilities

Call is scheduled in one-week increments and is telephone call. Each fellow takes a maximum of 12 weeks of call per year (about one week per month). Fellows always have faculty back-up when they are on call. DDBP does not provide inpatient consultations.
