Updated Visitation Guidelines Set for Community Providers

Updated Visitation Guidelines Set for Community Providers.Primary care providers (PCPs) are an important part of the Ongoing Care Team for patients admitted to Cincinnati Children’s. PCPs are welcome and encouraged to see their patients during their stay here. This visit is considered a professional visit to the patient and family. If you have a Cincinnati Children’s badge, you should wear it anytime you are in the hospital (please wear it above the waist where it can be easily seen). If you don’t have a Cincinnati Children’s badge, please follow these simple guidelines:

  • If you are the PCP for any inpatient, please stop by the Welcome Desk where you can receive an identification sticker and an access card. An access card enables you to securely enter the unit where your patient is being treated. If you plan to visit more than one patient, please let the Welcome Center know, since access cards are unit-specific. Also, please be prepared to show any form of photo ID.
  • A health unit coordinator (HUC) is located on each unit and can help you locate the nurse or resident team caring for your patient. We recommend that you stop by the HUC’s desk before entering your patient’s room. Please be aware that patient safety regulations require the HUC to verify that you are the PCP before sharing any patient information.
  • You are welcome to see your patient in the PICU, NICU or CICU. Before entering your patient’s room, please stop by the HUC’s desk to request an update from a nurse or resident who is taking care of your patient.

Please feel free to contact your physician representative directly or call Physician Services at 513-636-6033 with any questions.
