Bio

Dr. Xu is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics. Her primary appointment is in the Division of Pulmonary Biology, and her secondary appointment is in the Division of Biomedical Informatics. Her main research interests are functional genomics, bioinformatics and system biology. She is currently studying lung-specific gene expression profiling, transcription regulation and biological pathways. Her goals are to identify target genes or genetic modifiers that may play important roles in lung development and pathogenesis, and to identify and understand the regulatory elements that control the expression of those important lung genes. She also aims to integrate the data and information from new computational methods and experimental approaches in a synergistic way to gain a better understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying lung development and various lung diseases.
