Cilia Interpreting and Processing Molecular Signals

How do cilia interpret and process molecular signals?

It is unclear how cilia transduce a myriad of molecular signals and why neural crest cells (NCCs) are acutely sensitive to ciliopathic defects. Our ongoing work utilizes mouse models to address how ciliary heterogeneity impacts transduction of the Hedgehog (Hh) pathway in NCCs and aims to initiate studies into how cilia transduce other signaling pathways essential for directing NCCs to differentiate into skeletal tissues.
