Research in Pediatric Hearing Development and Disorders

Since 2009, the Children’s Auditory Research Lab (CARLab) has been part of the Communication Sciences Research Center (CSRC), the leading research hub in Ohio for pediatric hearing, reading, speech and language research.

We currently host more than 20 graduate level research fellows, associates, clinical staff, research coordinators, graduate students and support personnel working in the CSRC. Our members come from various departments across Cincinnati Children's and the University of Cincinnati. We are united by a desire to understand the mechanisms of human communication at both a basic science and at applied and clinical levels.

Research in the CARLab is directed toward understanding hearing development and disorders in newborns, children and adolescents. Our studies are funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

We are actively collaborating with researchers in Cincinnati and around the world. The diversity of our research is reflected in the diversity of the people we work and collaborate with. If you are interested in joining our team or a research project, contact us.
