• Research to Improve Clinical Care

Integrating research with clinical efforts is one of our core values at Cincinnati Children's. The comprehensive nature of the research efforts through the Liver Transplant Center and the Liver Care Center help set Cincinnati Children's apart from other institutions.

The Pediatric Liver Care Center has research programs in several areas of liver disease in the Department of Surgery and the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Cincinnati Children’s. The programs help us lead the way in healthcare delivery for liver disease patients through basic science research, clinical research, translational research and outcomes research.

The Pediatric Liver Care Center's commitment to cutting-edge research means that our patients have access to the latest advancements in treatment.

In addition to using state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics, our experts conduct research to develop innovative diagnostics and new treatment strategies for children with liver disease. The research projects, funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health and local and national organizations, focus on:

You and your child are vital members of our research team. More than 85 percent of our patients participate in our clinical research, helping us to better understand and treat the diseases that affect them. This ongoing patient support is critical to our mission of improving outcomes for children battling liver disease.
