About the VPI Clinic

The VPI (Velopharyngeal Insufficiency / Incompetence) Clinic consists of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals who specialize in the evaluation and treatment of patients with hypernasality and other resonance disorders.

The team members of the VPI Clinic work together to assess the patient's speech, resonance, velopharyngeal function and genetic background. Through a comprehensive team assessment, these specialists try to determine the cause of the speech problem and the contributing factors.

Immediately after the assessment, team members meet briefly to discuss their findings and impressions, and to determine recommendations for treatment. The findings and recommendations are communicated with the parents at that time.

The interdisciplinary interaction and communication that occurs in VPI Clinic results in increased quality of care for the patient.
