The Powers Lab is focused on clinical trials and translational research that leads to an evidence-base that changes clinical practice. Interventions include both medication treatments and bio-behavioral therapies. Current studies involve a large, nation-wide trial testing the efficacy of two medications used for migraine prevention in children and adolescents; a trial testing a combination of medication and cognitive behavioral therapy for youth with chronic migraine; and studies of behavioral treatments aimed at improving dietary adherence in young children with chronic illnesses such as cystic fibrosis and obesity.
The Powers lab is investigating the efficacy of combined behavioral and pharmacological treatment in reducing headache frequency and functional disability in youth with chronic daily headache.
Read more about how research by the Powers lab and colleagues has demonstrated that combined behavioral and nutrition interventions in young children with CF leads to increased weight gain.
