Training
All CPRG members who participate in a research study must complete CITI Human Protections training and have knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Human Protections Training: The Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI)
The CITI program is the human research protection course that is required for all research personnel who conduct human research at or through Cincinnati Children's.This includes all CPRG member practitioners who participate in CPRG activities involving human subjects*.CITI is a high quality program that raises the bar for general knowledge about clinical research and improves the overall quality of clinical research at CCHMC.It is currently in use in at least 22 of 26 AAHRPP-approved institutions and has been reviewed and approved by the Transforming Clinical Research Steering Committee.
The CITI training is comprised of 14 modules, which may be completed one at a time.It can be accessed fromwww.citiprogram.org. Use Internet Explorer only to access for best results. You must first register:
1. Log onto CITI website (www.citiprogram.org)
2. Click "Register for the CITI course"
3. Choose "All Others" (towards bottom of page) and click on Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
4. Choose a user name (use your CCHMC sign-on) and password
5. Complete registration page:
6. Be sure to accurately record your email address in the appropriate field
7. In the Employee ID field, use the following: CPRG. This will ensure that you get proper credit
When all modules have been completed, the CPRG member is able to participate in human subjects research.Please print and fax your completion certificate to the CPRG office at (513) 636-7247.
*CITI training is not required for participation in the Symptom Surveillance Project (SSP).
Additional Human Subjects Training
Additional training is available online from the University of Cincinnati. We recommend the courses listed below, which can be accessed at the UC Web Central web site. On the left side of the page, look under Compliance - Human Research. The first time you access the training, you will need to create a login.
