I am a spiritual care specialist (Chaplain), part of the Spiritual Care Department here at Cincinnati Children’s. I provide spiritual and emotional support for patients, families and staff for all people of any religion or walk of life. Providing spiritual support to families and staff empowers people to cope with the extreme stress we all encounter here at the hospital, in and outside of the hospital room.
Caring for people during their difficult circumstances has interested me since I was five years old. It is a sacred honor when someone shares their challenging circumstances with me and lets me journey with them as they navigate their emotions and spiritual beliefs. Curiosity and humility are my philosophy. I believe people already have the tools they need to navigate the chaos of life. I approach everyone with curiosity, seeking to discover and explore their inner strength and help them better manage their circumstances and emotions.
When not at the hospital, I enjoy playing guitar, taking pictures and watching The Office. For the guitar nerds out there, I own a Les Paul, an SG, a Stratocaster and a Telecaster. I’ve done creative portrait photography since 2009, and I’ve watched The Office over 20 times all the way through (and I don’t skip Scott’s Tots). I'm originally from California, and my family traces our history in California back over 300 years. I did my Chaplain Residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. The only thing that I have ever been willing to leave California for is a top-tier children’s hospital like ours at Cincinnati Children’s, so it is a real honor to work here. I hope to talk with many of you soon!
