Stern Family Leaves a Legacy Gift to Help Cancer Patients

Artist rendering of soon-to-be-built Critical Care Building.

The late Mary and Joseph Stern, Jr. cared deeply about their community – and they knew the importance of high-quality medicine. After their granddaughter survived a childhood battle with cancer, the couple made the decision to include Cincinnati Children’s in their estate plans. And while their son says his parents did not make the $2.4 million dollar gift with any eye for recognition, their names will be preserved in the halls of our new Critical Care Building. The Mary and Joseph S. Stern Jr. Bone Marrow Unit is one of the first areas to be named as part of our campaign to raise $60 million for the critical care expansion.
