My areas of interest include preventive healthcare, reproductive and sexual health services, and mental healthcare. I am certified in recovery ally and suicide prevention training, contraceptive device insertions, and various adolescent health interventions such as short brief interventions for substance abuse. Adolescence is a time of rapid physical, emotional, and cognitive change, and while it can be challenging for my patients, it is incredibly rewarding to help them navigate this pivotal time in their lives as they transition from childhood to adulthood.
Championing reproductive health is a key focus for me. I believe in providing comprehensive, evidence-based reproductive healthcare and equipping teens with accurate information about their bodies, contraception, consent, and healthy relationships. My commitment goes beyond clinical care—I am motivated by the principles of reproductive justice and advocate for policies and practices that promote equity and autonomy for all adolescents. Mental health advocacy is also a significant part of my practice. Adolescents often face issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and identity development. I am dedicated to creating a safe space where teens feel heard, validated, and empowered to seek help without stigma.
Health equity and advocacy are central to my work. Adolescents, especially those in underserved communities, can face barriers to care. I am passionate about addressing social determinants of health and advocating for vulnerable populations. My current research focuses on social determinants of health and medical student education, aiming to develop educational tools that support learners in delivering thoughtful, evidence-based care to adolescents.
Outside of work, I enjoy scuba diving with my husband, and our vacations often center around this. We are also volunteer divers at Newport Aquarium through the Wave Foundation, and I have four cats and too many plants to count that keep me busy.
