I’m an audiologist interested in audiometric assessment, hearing aids, single-sided deafness, bone conduction hearing devices, auditory processing disorders and the Employee Hearing Aid Program. Every child deserves to feel they have a team of supporters behind them. My role on that team is helping children develop a strong sense of identity and self-advocacy skills so they are ready to take on whatever the world may throw at them, certainly a hearing loss notwithstanding.
As a child, I was no stranger to the audiologist. Growing up with ear and hearing difficulties, I was exposed early and often. Additionally, as a hearing aid user, I know what it is like to utilize hearing aids in childhood and the joys and trials that can accompany that experience. I was drawn to specialize in pediatrics to share what I have learned from my own experiences and, more selfishly, to humbly learn from what my patients have to teach me. The ability to share the journey of growing up and life's milestones with the children we serve is truly a joy.
Every patient and family arrive with different backgrounds, values and stories. Our lived experiences make us who we uniquely are. Thus, no two patients' needs are the same. I’m deeply committed to providing patient- and family-centered care, doing all I can to make those in my care feel welcomed, valued and respected while receiving top-notch audiometric care.
I cobble together an eclectic list of hobbies and activities in my free time. I love to spend time outside to clear my head and recharge from the day. I enjoy distance running, hiking or just putting up a hammock and spending time in the woods. I also have a deep and lasting love for the arts, including musical theatre and choral performances. I sang in various choral ensembles from elementary school through the end of college and still serve on the board of directors of the Kalamazoo Children's Chorus.
