James "Jamie" Brugler, MSN, APRN-CNP

I am a nurse practitioner in pulmonary medicine, caring for children in outpatient asthma and sleep medicine clinics as well as hospitalized patients who require pulmonary care, including tracheostomy and ventilator management. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent seven years as a nurse in Cincinnati Children's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), where I developed a passion for supporting children and families through complex medical journeys.

Family-centered care is at the heart of my practice. I believe every child and family deserves a care plan that fits their unique needs, and I work closely with families to find solutions that are effective both at home and at school. I am committed to being an advocate for my patients and their families, helping them navigate challenges and feel confident in their child's care.

I value the collaborative approach that defines our pulmonary team and enjoy partnering with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists and medical assistants to provide the best possible care. By working together, we can support children and families across every stage of their pulmonary care journey.

My connection to Cincinnati Children's began long before my career here. Growing up, I watched a sibling receive care here and saw firsthand the compassion and expertise that make this institution so special. That experience inspired me to pursue a career in pediatric healthcare, and I always knew I wanted to be part of the Cincinnati Children's team.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, attending local sporting events and concerts, and exploring the outdoors.
