About

Biography

As a resident physician in the Triple Board Residency program at Cincinnati Children's, my clinical specialties are general pediatrics, adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. My care philosophy is patient- and family-centered, addressing physical and emotional concerns to provide the best outcomes.

I have always been interested in mental health, and as a result, I pursued a degree in psychology. Working as an in-home direct therapist for children with neurodevelopmental disorders in a medically underserved area before medical school, I saw daily how the lack of access to qualified medical professionals harmed patients and families. I love working with children, and we make a significant impact when we help kids early in life. Our most powerful tools are providing early diagnoses and appropriate interventions.

While in medical school, I earned Western Michigan University's (WMed) Global and Public Health Distinction and Medical Ethics, Humanities, and Law: Clinical Medical Ethics Distinction. In addition to my interest in the subjects, I pursued these distinction programs because I believe we owe it to our patients to understand how public health, psychology, ethics, law and many other fields intersect with and impact our practice of medicine. I also won WMed's Outstanding Student Award in the Department of Medical Ethics, Humanities and Law (2022-2023) and was selected as a Michigan Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (Mi-LEND) fellow (2022-2023). Participating in Mi-LEND was an incredibly valuable experience that changed how I practice medicine and made me a stronger and more educated advocate for my patients.

Much of my research is focused on expanding access to mental health services by assessing and improving mental health care in primary care settings and piloting family-centered initiatives to expand access to scientific knowledge and improve shared decision-making with parents of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Other areas of research that are meaningful to me are in public health, specifically addressing social determinants of health and healthcare disparities. I'm also involved in bioethics research.

In my free time, I love drawing and photography. I'm also learning to sew, though that's more of a love-hate relationship so far.
