I am an advanced practice registered nurse specializing in genetics and metabolic disorders. Before working in genetics, I spent 15 years working in the cardiology unit. My first degree was in telecommunications, and I worked in customer service. I then chose to be a stay-at-home mom for five years before obtaining a clerical position in the emergency department at Cincinnati Children’s.
Working at Cincinnati Children’s led me back to school to obtain my nursing degree. I also chose to work in pediatrics because I love working with children. Later, I earned my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and became a pediatric nurse practitioner. I was honored to earn summa cum laude distinction for my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and my MSN degrees.
My communications background has helped me talk with families and patients in a way that helps them understand medical terms. I especially like helping kids feel comfortable working with me, and that usually means playing with them during their exams.
I like to spend time with my two grown sons. I also have a Manx cat (the kind with no tail) that I like to play with and spoil.
