My clinical specialty is pediatric and general genetics. I see so many amazing kids, but genetic conditions are often challenging. As a genetic counselor, I’m the person who helps patients and families through these difficult times. I find patients have often gone for quite a while feeling unheard. In a world where the top priority is often efficiency, I take the time to listen to my patients. I also provide answers for patients who have been searching for answers for a long time.
Genetic counselors work with patients and families to collect medical and family histories, review genetic testing options, discuss genetic test results and coordinate care. As your genetic counselor, I do everything possible to ensure you receive the care you deserve. This approach means being attentive during your appointment, coordinating care with other providers and advocating for you when necessary.
Before recently moving to Ohio, I was the education chair for the Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors (MAGC). When I’m not working, I love to bake interesting baked goods — not your typical cakes and cookies. My favorites are tres leches cake, sticky toffee pudding and homemade pretzels!
