About

Biography

As a pediatric endocrinology fellow, I see patients with diabetes and other hormone-related disorders that can impact their growth, development and well-being. I am particularly interested in growth, Turner syndrome, medical education, type 1 diabetes and diabetes technology. I enjoy meeting patients and their families, discussing their concerns, getting into the physiology of what might be happening, and partnering with them to devise solutions that let them thrive and succeed.

I have been interested in endocrinology since volunteering at a camp for children with diabetes during my first year of medical school. I found learning about the pathways and logic of the endocrine system to be very satisfying. I enjoyed how much it overlaps with primary care pediatrics—we literally help kids grow up! The endocrine system plays a role in all parts of the body. We often interact with pediatric specialists in all areas of the hospital, from the outpatient clinic to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and pediatricians across the tri-state area. Since we see many of our patients throughout their childhood and adolescence, we also build long-term relationships with them and their families and help them transition from children to teens to adults. While our patients may have a chronic disease, it is a privilege to help them manage some of that burden so they can just be kids.

One of the benefits of being a fellow here is getting to work with faculty who are experts in their fields, along with a team of nurses, educators, social workers, dieticians and administrative staff who work together to ensure we take great care of our patients. Clinical care is a rewarding mix of investigation and education that we can tailor to each individual. I learn so much from each interaction with my patients and their families.

In my free time, you can usually find me curled up with my cat and reading a good book. I also enjoy running, climbing, walking around my neighborhood and playing the trumpet.
