About

Biography

My passion for pediatric and adolescent gynecology stems from my passion for teaching. I enjoy educating patients about puberty, periods and how to keep their bodies healthy and safe. Building rapport with patients from their early teenage years to young adulthood is incredibly rewarding and helps foster a positive view of reproductive healthcare that encourages them to continue this care throughout their adulthood.

My clinical interests include pubertal guidance, menstrual suppression, dysmenorrhea, polycystic ovarian syndrome, Mullerian anomalies, endometriosis, anorectal malformations and minimally invasive surgical techniques. I believe in evidence-based healthcare and shared decision-making, and I strive to keep patients actively engaged in discussions during their visits. My goal is to make every patient feel seen, respected and comfortable. Early education on reproductive health empowers patients to make informed, safe and healthy decisions.

I am involved in research evaluating functional and surgical outcomes of patients who have undergone complex reconstructive pelvic surgery. I am also interested in the effects of hormone therapy on gastric motility and understanding the safety of hormone therapy for menstrual suppression in patients who have undergone a bone marrow transplant. My goal is to better understand how exogenous hormones may impact other systems in the body.

Due to my passion for teaching, I am also involved in simulation research to teach providers how to better care for pediatric patients with a gynecologic concern and have created a novel 3D printed pediatric pelvic model that is used for this education. During my residency, I received the Innovation in Medical Education award from the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology for developing this model, recognizing my efforts to expand provider knowledge on providing pediatric gynecologic care.

In my free time, I love to run, read, write, hike and have recently started Pilates.
