My clinical specialty is speech-language pathology. I primarily focus on early intervention, serving patients from birth to three years of age. I also hold clinical competencies in the areas of speech sound disorders, language disorders, autism and cultural and linguistic diversity. My top priorities when working with your child include safety and connection. I constantly strive to create a safe, nurturing and fun environment for your child to learn. Establishing a connection allows us to develop an ideal rapport and working relationship to foster communication skills. Children learn best through play. I use play to engage children in ways that accommodate their needs, keep them interested and support them in reaching their maximum potential.
As a child, I was nominated by my teachers to be a peer model for a "lunch buddies" group, eating lunch with my peers who had special needs, specifically autism. I quickly formed meaningful connections with them, which sparked my career interest in working with people with disabilities. I completed an introductory course in speech-language pathology and fell in love with helping others communicate and "find their voice.
My professional philosophy and style of therapy include compassion, flexibility and tenacity. I strive to develop an ideal rapport with my patients and their families. I am caring and understanding with my patients throughout each therapy session. I'm willing to modify my treatment plans to support them in reaching their communication goals. My approach creates the most appropriate and fun environment for making progress in therapy. As a tenacious life-long learner, I have an ongoing intellectual curiosity for speech-language pathology, and I use my knowledge to guide therapy decisions and recommendations. My interest and dedication to learning allow me to provide the most effective and evidence-based services for each patient.
During my second year at Cincinnati Children's, I was nominated for the Early Career Award within the Division of Speech Pathology. This award recognizes an employee who demonstrates exceptional work during the first five years of their career for competency, specialty attainment, leadership, scholarly efforts and clinical productivity.
In my free time, I enjoy reading novels, listening to audiobooks and live music, hiking and spending time with my husband and our Australian Shepherds, Cooper and Rooster. I also enjoy musicals and cheering on all Cincinnati sports teams.
