About

Biography

As a pediatric bone marrow transplant physician, I specialize in treating and caring for patients with high-risk or refractory malignancies, inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, immunodeficiencies/immune dysregulation syndromes, metabolic syndromes and other rare disorders. I have a particular interest in treating patients with inherited and acquired bone marrow failure syndromes.

Caring for patients and their families in their most vulnerable state has always been a great privilege. Our patients inspire me every day with their resiliency and strength. I strongly believe that medical treatment should not just focus on the diagnosis at hand but also address the physical, emotional and cognitive implications as part of a comprehensive treatment approach.

I am passionate about the field of bone marrow transplant and its ever-evolving push to optimize our conditioning regimens, minimize toxicities and tailor treatment approaches with curative intent. Although necessary for cure, many transplant therapies can contribute to long-term side effects. Through my research, I’m exploring the impact of transplant-related toxicities not only on organ function but also the stressors our patients face as they transition back to school and the associated social/emotional burdens. I also have a particular interest in investigating new treatments for graft-versus-host disease.

I feel fortunate to work at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, which combines state-of-the-art healthcare with compassion, is at the forefront of clinical research, has exceptional multidisciplinary care and contributes to our greater Cincinnati community through outreach endeavors.

When I’m not working, I enjoy yoga, Pilates and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). I spend a lot of time outdoors exploring the city in search of a great croissant, hiking local trails or attempting to cross off visits to all the US National Parks.
