As a child life specialist, I care for children with congenital heart disease and neurodevelopmental disabilities. I primarily provide individualized education, preparation, procedural support and therapeutic play to meet the psychosocial needs of patients with complex congenital heart disease and their families.
I learned about child life through a friend who is a pediatric nurse and found it to be a perfect fit with my combined interests in development, healthcare, and supporting children and families. I aim to provide excellent, compassionate care when working with patients and families. I recognize the individual and their strengths, approach challenges with curiosity, and work collaboratively with families and staff to create an emotionally and physically safe healthcare experience.
I was honored to receive the Ruth Lyons Award of Child Life and Integrative Care Distinction (2017). This award is reserved for an individual whose practice demonstrates the highest caliber of emotional care for patients, families and colleagues.
My work in research aims to improve mental health and neurodevelopmental outcomes for individuals with congenital heart disease and their families.
Outside the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my family, trying new recipes and being outdoors.
