Celia Paige, MSW, LSW

I’m a social worker supporting patients undergoing liver, intestine and pancreas transplants. I work with patients and families throughout all aspects of the transplant process. I understand that families have diverse identities, circumstances and concerns. I strive to partner with and advocate for each unique need a patient and family may have throughout their journey, such as supporting resource needs at home, providing emotional support during prolonged admissions or bolstering through an unanticipated challenge.

While completing my Master of Social Work program at the University of Cincinnati, I interned at Cincinnati Children’s in Adolescent Medicine. This experience opened my eyes to the role of social work in healthcare. I knew I wanted to return to Cincinnati Children’s after seeing diverse professions come together to support patients and families. I joined the liver, intestine and pancreas transplant teams during the COVID-19 pandemic when it was clear that social work resources were an essential part of supporting families through the transplant process.

I’m passionate about the profession of social work, transplant care and the elevation of people of color within healthcare. I work creatively to problem-solve and collaborate with colleagues, community resources and support services to meet patient needs. I love witnessing patients successfully reach their goals, and I’m honored to help families through their most challenging circumstances. I am also honored to be a member of the Society for Transplant Social Workers and a Certified Clinical Transplant Social Worker.

When I’m not at work, I love traveling with my family, reading, crafting and playing with my dog, Chickpea.
