Kelley A. Kirwan, MD

I have always loved children—especially how they think. I’m constantly recalling my patients fondly. Like the young boy with chicken pox who cried, “Just look at me—I’m never eating chicken again!”

As a general pediatrician, I consider myself both a partner and teacher to my families. I have medical knowledge, and they know their child and family. I spend time teaching young families about their children and what to expect next. And I appreciate learning from them, too. Together, we give the child the best start possible.

I love the continuity of knowing the child across their lifespan. I have many “grand-patients,” as I like to call them. I cared for their parents and grandparents, who now trust me to care for their own little ones. I’m here to help all of them find the care they need.

I was inspired to become a pediatrician by my childhood pediatrician. He was caring, compassionate and warm. He listened to my concerns and treated me with respect. During medical school, I was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, I came to Cincinnati for my pediatric residency and only planned to stay for a few years. But now—over 30 years, three children and some grandkids later—I can’t imagine being anywhere else.

In my free time, I enjoy snuggling up with a good book. I also love Irish festivals and music.
