I am a gastrointestinal (GI) doctor specializing in pediatric patients with digestive system disorders (gastroenterology). My care approach is patient centered: I strive to understand my patients’ environments and their discomfort and pain. I approach patients with empathy and compassion, remembering when I was in the hospital as a young child.
As a patient, I developed a strong interest in hospitals and doctors. I also found gastroenterology fascinating because of procedures like endoscopy. This involves viewing parts of the digestive system with a small camera. This interest also led to my research, which focuses on better understanding eosinophilic esophagitis and irritable bowel disorder (IBD).
Though I am relatively new to practicing in the United States, I have several years of practice experience in other countries. I hold a medical license in Japan. I am also pediatric and pediatric GI board certified in South Korea. When I’m not working, I like to ride bikes and go camping with my family.
