I'm a pediatric neurology resident in the Child Neurology/Pediatrics Combined Residency Program at Cincinnati Children's.
I often think about the human experience, shared and individual, and what it means to exist as a person. Every day, I get to work with different kids and their families and learn more about what life means to them. I get the opportunity to appreciate the many ways that kids can learn, think, move and experience the world. My patients inspire me, and being around them brings me great joy. Kids make it easy to believe in the inherent good in humanity.
At Cincinnati Children's, I work directly with hundreds of kids from underserved communities in a primary care clinic and see kids with rare and unique medical problems as part of our specialty services. Regardless of the situation, I take the time to do everything I can for the child in front of me. As your child's doctor, I will ask the hard questions, do extra research and advocate for your child to receive the best medical care possible.
My subspecialty interest is in headache medicine. My primary research looks at specific sex-dependent gene targets for migraine triggered by sleep disruption. I won the American Headache Society's Frontiers in Headache Research Award for my preclinical sleep disruption-induced migraine model in 2020 and my research into neurofeedback as a migraine treatment in 2023. I am also interested in health equity and how disparate exposure to social and environmental stressors affects health and subsequent life outcomes. As part of the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy, I actively work to effect policy changes that make it easier for kids with migraines to attend school with appropriate accommodations. If you are an underrepresented student, please feel free to email me for mentorship or assistance with applications or standardized exams.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring Cincinnati's vast network of off-road bike trails, seeing the greenery in all the different parks, and trying out new restaurants and recipes. I'm learning to make pasta and pizza from scratch and studying botany to discover new plants to add to my garden. My next goal is to build a sustainable community vegetable garden!
