As a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist, I am an experienced clinician, anesthesiologist, educator and mentor with a research background. Originally from Thailand, I completed my medical training and residency in anesthesiology in 2002 at Chulalongkorn University and King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. In the United States, I have completed three anesthesiology fellowships and a Master's Degree in Clinical and Translational Science. I have received many awards and scholarships, including the Proposal Award, the Young Investigator Award (two years in a row), the Foundation for Research Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) award, and a scholarship from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to attend the summer institute in Maternal-Fetal Pharmacology. My work in maternal-fetal anesthesia was published in the Anesthesiology journal as a lead article in 2013.
Besides my extensive training and experiences in clinical anesthesia and research, I received training in the science of quality improvement, electronic medical records (EMR), conflict management, communication and leadership skills. I have been the Anesthesia Clinical Director at Cincinnati Children's since 2013. I became the Procedure Center's Director in 2021 and Lead Anesthesia Clinical Director and Perioperative Medical Informative Officer in 2022.
My clinical specialty is pediatric anesthesia and operating room management. I believe in providing personalized care. Each patient is different, and circumstances can change, even with the same patient on separate visits. It's essential to take the time to listen, even under stressful environments with many high acuity cases. Care must be patient- and family-centered, with a team built around patient needs.
I'm also the director of the Procedure Center. Because we care about patient and family outcomes and experiences, we must care about our team members who serve them. I am a perioperative team builder who manages and invests in staff recruitment, retention and professional development, so we can have a care team that works with passion, has experience, and is willing to go above and beyond to provide the best patient-centered care. I also mentor junior faculty to develop the next generation of anesthesia provider leaders.
I am honored to have been given The Aubrey Rose Foundation Doctor of the Year Award for my passion and care as an anesthesia provider and leader.
When I'm not working, I love traveling and trying new restaurants in the area.
